With my experience with domains, I sometime get to that point that I can’t find what domains I have and what is their status, of Corse it can be checked manually, but it’s so complicated keeping track of all these domains all the time.

So I searched for a solution…

I found a great application named domain Dashboard.
I bought it, installed it and to say the truth, I am really happy with it. It made my life lot easier in managing all my self hosted domains.

Here are some of the key points that this domain management program helps me with:

1. It Works with both WHM Accounts and also cPanel Accounts.
2. Automatically gets all add-on domains and sub domain details from the server.
3. Lists multiple servers, domain and sub domains in a tree view.
4. It tracks pagerank and Backlinks stats.
5. It has a filter and export engine that let you filter the stats you need and export it to a multi page excel datasheet.
6. Creates reports of domains with statistic charts that can be saved as PDF files.
7. Great keyword manager that gets keyword lists and keyword statistics from the domain.
8. Determines if a site is ranked in top 50 results for any of terms in the particular keyword list.
9. Grabs keywords and also keyword phrases from Cpanel’s awstats and automatically insert them to a keyword list.
10. it have a great option for domainers and mass domain owners as it gives you the option to add a bulk number of domains, sun domains and add-on domains in one simple go to your server.
11. Automatically creates FTP access for all the domains.
12. Allows you to access domain name files in a click of a button.
13. Boasts mass FTP with Auto CHMOD option.

I had a great experience with that software, and i recommend it for both beginners and experienced domainers, mass domain name owners, web developers who have lot of domains they manage .I also recommend it for its great SEO (Search Engine Optimization) abilities, with all its stats, pagerank and traffic tools that this software uses. Site5 Web Hosting Review

I have been hosting some of my websites with Site5 for about a year now. I also have other websites hosted in other web hosting companies. Here is my review for site5 based on my own personal experience with them

Why I choose Site5

I got to know about Site5 through the webhostingtalk forums. At that time, I was searching for a reliable and reputable cheap web hosting company for a couple of my new websites. And I’ve heard a lot of good reviews about Site5 and so decide to try them out. Since they have a 60 day money back refund, I figure if I did not like it, I would ask for my money back. Anyway, I was basically testing their web hosting on my new websites so I was not terribly affected.

Site5 Hosting Plan

Site5 only offer two types of hosting plan : shared and reseller. So I took the superhosting extreme package. Basically here’s the brief web hosting package details :

Diskspace : 8GB
Bandwidth : 500GB
Multisite Accounts : 5
Unlimited : domain pointers, ftp, mysql

It also comes with fantastico, cpanel. All this for about $109 annually which is pretty cheap. Please note this hosting plan is no longer available and is replaced with multisite dynamite plan. It is basically the same as my previous plan except for more diskspace and bandwidth. As I’m writing this, they have a promotion where you can get this hosting plan for 2 years at only $149 which I consider to be a good deal.

Unique Features of Site5 hosting

One feature I like about site5 hosting is the multisite accounts. It is basically a full featured control panel for each domain. Unlike other shared web hosting companies which uses domain pointers, a multisite accounts exists on its own with its own subdomains, domain pointer, ftp, mysql etc. This help me to organize my websites better especially if you have a lot of domains. You can set the diskspace and bandwidth from the main pool of your web hosting account.

The other feature is the flashback which allows you to undo any changes you make to your website. It is a life saver especially when a website breaks down and you do not know the cause.

Things that can be improved

Though I like Site5 and would recommend it to friends, there are a few things that could make it better. One of them is the upgrade option. I recently upgraded my hosting plan to multisite dynamite and was told I had to shift to another server. The problem was I had to do the data transfer myself. With 3GB of data to transfer, not to mention the dozens of ftp, mysql and email accounts, it was a real hassle. Something I am sure their staff could have easily completed in a short time.

The other thing I didn’t like was I could not request for more IP addresses. If you know about SEO, then you know how having multiple IP addresses can be useful.

In all, I would still recommend site5 due to its cheap web hosting plan, good support and high availability.

Review of Some Low Cost Web Hosting Services

I have reviewed some web hosting services that offer good quality hosting at reasonable price.  These are not the best hosting services  and they are suitable only for starters.

<b><u>GoDaddy web hosting:</u></b>
GoDaddy is basically a domain registration company, but they also  provide web hosting services.

<u><b>Features:</b></u>
With a choice of Linux and Windows based hosting, they provide fairly large disk space and monthly bandwidth and their feature list is more than enough for starters.  Their <b>economy</b> plan, which is the base plan, offers 10GB of storage and 300GB of transfer per month.  You can also get a domain name for $2 with this plan.

<u><b>Prices:</b></u>
<b>Economy</b> plan starts at $5 per month and the unlimited plan costs $15 per month.  Considering the features offered, the economy plan is quite cheap as compared to other hosting services.
One good thing more about GoDaddy is that you can pay bi monthly, avoiding any long term contract in case you change your mind later.

<u><b>Support:</b></u>
There are mixed opinions about GoDaddy’s support.  Most of the people say they don’t get a response within a day.  While for some, their support has been good.  This is a negative point for starters, as anyone hosting a website for the first time will definately need support at some point.

<u><b>Promo/coupon codes:</b></u>
promo10 – 10% discount on your entire order.
promo530 – $5 discount on any order of $30 or more.
promo749 – $3 discount on .com domain registrations.

<u><b>Website:</b></u>
GoDaddy.com

<b><u>Namecheap Web Hosting:</u></b>
Namecheap is also a domain registration company.  It started web hosting business about a year ago and there have been a lot of positive reviews about it.

<u><b>Features:</b></u>
Their <b>basic</b> plan offers 5GB disk space and 250GB bandwidth.  Their language support options are suitable only for PHP based websites.
But that can still support open source CMS and blogging systems.

<u><b>Prices:</b></u>
At $40 per year, the Basic plan is available only with annual or bi-annual contract, which is bad.  You don’t want to get stuck eith them for a year in case find them not up to your mark.
However, you can get a their <b>pro</b> plan for $7 per month with lots of more features.  They also give 14 days money back guarantee for all their plans.
If you are registering a domain name with them, you will get free privacy protection for first year.

<u><b>Support:</b></u>
Namecheap is reputed for good quality support.  Most people have said they received a quick response from their support.  This is extremely helpful for starters.

<u><b>Promo/coupon codes:</b></u>
SAVE7993 – 10% discount on new domain name registrations.

<u><b>Website:</b></u>
Namecheap.com

<b><u>A Small Orange web hosting:</u></b>
A Small Orange is a small and little known company but they have a lot of positive reviews.  Their shared hosting plans are best suited for starters.
<u><b>Features:</b></u>
The basic plan called <b>Tiny</b> offers <b>75MB space</b> and <b>1GB bandwidth </b> per month with a yearly payment.  The next one called <b>Small</b> is also suitable for starters, which offers <b>400MB disk space</b> and <b>10GB bandwidth</b> per month.
One good feature of A Small Orange is that they have a policy of “no artificial limits”, which according to them is placing no restriction on services that do not cost them, like adding domains, Emails etc.  They claim, other hosting service providers place restrictions on these services to charge extra when you need them.
As a result, they offer unlimited databases, sub-domains, add-on domains, FTP accounts and email forwaders etc.
A Small Orange places restrictions on services that cost them, like disk space, bandwidth, memory size etc.

<u><b>Prices:</b></u>
The <b>Tiny</b> plan is available for $25 per year.  The “Small” plan is available for monthly price of $5, still very cheap.
A Small Orange is not a domain registrar but they register domains through <b>eNom.com</b> for $10 with free privacy protection, a service for which most domain registrars charge extra fees.

<u><b>Support:</b></u>
Fast and friendly support is something A Small Orange is reputed for.
Although their quality of support has gone down due to increase in accounts, but still they are better than most of other web hosting services.

<u><b>Promo/coupon codes:</b></u>
15percentdiscount – Get 15% discount on every purchase.
5bucksdiscount -  Get $5 discount on every purchase.

<u><b>Website:</b></u>
<a rel=”nofollow” onclick=”javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview(‘/outgoing/article_exit_link’);” href=”http://refer.asmallorange.com/19071″ target=”_blank”>asmallorange.com</a>

<b><u>1and1 web hosting:</u></b>
1and1 is a reseller hosting company and they have been quite problematic for some people.  If you so some search about them, you will find that most of the reviews about them are bad.
But being a 12 year old company, they are quite well known too.

<u><b>Features:</b></u>
Looking at their features and knowing the fact that they have a large customer base too, there is little doubt that they are over-sellers.
The basic plan called <b>1and1 Beginner</b> offers <b>10 GB storage</b> and <b>300GB transfer per month</b>.
They also provide free private registration.  There are a host of features that are not available for the basic plan, they are only available for higher plans.

<u><b>Prices:</b></u>
The basic plan is available with a 6 months contract only at the rate of $4 per month.  Its not good to have a 6 month contract with a company that has bad reputation.
They register domain for a reasonable amount of $7.  If you buy a domain name with a hosting plan, you will get free private registration.

<u><b>Support:</b></u>
Their reputation for support is worst as it can be.  But if you are you can tackle minor hosting problems by yourself, then their support should not be a big concern for.  You are looking for a cheap solution after all.

Unix Hosting ? General Review

First of all let’s see what hosting is. Hosting is a service which gives a disk space for any physical allocation of a site on a server, permanently being in the Internet. This service can also include of a place for mail correspondence, various databases, and support of this server functioning. Besides, as a rule, hosting service supposes registration of domain names.

It is necessary to say that hosting is divided into paid and free, paid hosting does not have advertising and its base services are much more reliable.

Now developers have worked hard to facilitate administration of sites under UNIX, and at present there is almost no difference between platforms UNIX and Windows if we compare them in ease of handle and usage. If you know and prefer to use shell you will select UNIX. And if you only start the path and are at a stage of developing, you can easily deal with the control panel and with UNIX Web-interface.

Also, you should pay attention that experts consider UNIX more reliable. This is really a fine solution. If you have decided to create your own resource, you will certainly want it to be ideal, and UNIX platform is both reliable and simple in usage. At solving hosting problems, UNIX platform is more quick in actions.

It is worthy to add that many users choose the Windows platform only because it seems to them easier and must be not so difficult to understand.

And the most important thing in hosting is its cost, and in it it is necessary to mark that UNIX now differs very strongly from Windows as the majority of products under UNIX extends under a free license and also it is easier to achieve desirable level of reliability and understanding on UNIX. For this reason now more and more people trust their resources to the UNIX platform.
It is necessary to note that the UNIX operating system always was a reliable, flexible and widespread platform exactly for rendering of hosting services. Many banks and systems of electronic commerce have stopped their choice on this platform, as it is faster than other platforms, and it is very safe. The choice of huge companies falls on this platform too. A stable UNIX system became a unique choice for many companies, unlike Microsoft NT/2000, UNIX does not use GUI (Graphical User Interface), that is why the Unix platform has more capabilities to concentrate a major part of resources for a complete service of virtual web-servers.

UNIX as a hosting platform has a lot of advantages. Among them there is an amount of free scripts and additions, possibility to use Perl, PHP3/4 and mySQL Server.

Free Web Hosting Review

The biggest question when it comes to selecting a web host has always been which one is better between free web hosting and cheap web domain hosting.

The word FREE is always enticing but not to every body. If you are serious about making money with your website, it will be to your advantage to have your site independently hosted in a paid platform. Although free web hosting is quite popular but be mindful of the fact that the company that hosts your site free on the internet will not be accountable to you in any way. There have been cases of frequent downtime and slow connection in some of the free web hosting packages. The worst may be that the site you had labored to build and freely host may just crash and all the data you have in it will disappear without you having any means of retrieving them,.

Apart from the fact that you will not hold the company that offers you free web host liable for any eventuality to your site, it is vital for you to know that search engines do not give priority to such free web hosted sites as they are regarded them as sub domains. The search engines will start their crawling from the root of the main site and normally ‘spiders out’ through the links on the home page. This means that the possibility of having your free hosted site ‘crawled’ by the search engine robots is very minimal. This will be to your site’s utmost internet exposure.

If just having a ‘little’ bit of presence on the internet is your goal, then you may consider a free web host but if your idea is to make money from the internet, it is advisable to get a cheap web host. Cheap web hosts now start from less than $4 per month and this will afford you the independence to do what you desire with you site based on the limits of the host package you chose. This is a departure from the free web host where you do not have any influence on what happens to your site and the amount of space and bandwidth you will use.

If your budget is really low and you desire to have your site now, it is better you consider cheap web host instead of a free web host. With cheap web hosting plan, you have the option of upgrading to greater and more elaborate hosting package anytime you want. For instance, if you discover that the visitors to your cheaply hosted site is increasing, all you will do is just ask your web hosting company to give you more space and bandwidth. The money you will be required to pay for this kind of upgrade is usually small.

The above discussion is very important if you are currently considering free web host. We also forgot to mention that with most cheap web host, you have some nice applications that will help you to design and upload your website stress free. This is important here because some free web host companies are smart enough to use easy web design applications to lure you to their net. It is not too bad if the purpose of your site is for leisure but if it is for serious business, it pays more to register your domain and have your site hosted. This has been made very easy these days in the competitive world of hosting companies. The hosting company that will offer you cheap, quality and response hosting packages is just a click away. Give it a try today and you will notice it will be cheaper for you at the long run.
