Some Of The Most Important Issues You Need To Consider When Choosing A Web Host Company

The vast array of new web hosting services on the market today can be more than a little overwhelming. There are thousands of web hosting services from which to choose. Because of all the choices, it has become increasingly difficult for the beginner to decide what web host will serve them best. Choosing your e-commerce hosting service basically comes down to the features the company offers and their customer service, which, especially for people new to setting up web sites and blogs, is extremely important. This article endeavors to cover some of the important issues you need to be aware of when choosing a web host.
First, a caveat regarding free web hosting: you may be tempted by free web hosting but these services offer very little in the way of features and almost nonexistent customer support. Good customer support cannot be stressed enough when you’re starting out in e-commerce. You will have problems and you’ll need a real live person who can help you. Cut-rate and cheap web hosting services aren’t much better. If you want to be successful you’ll avoid these kinds of web hosting services. Diving into e-commerce requires enough effort as it is; you don’t want added hassles from your service provider. If you’re serious about e-commerce on the Web, you need to start off with the right tools. The company you choose to provide your web hosting is one of these tools, and it can be the difference between failure and success.
Again, your web host’s customer support can make all the difference in the world. Quality customer service can make or break you. It’s what separates a good host from a bad host. One of the things you should look for in a hosting company is if it provides customer support 24 hour, 7 day a week availability with a toll-free number. You have to be able to get help whenever you need it. If you have just a few simple questions, the answers should be easily locatable on the web host’s site. If time isn’t of the essence, then you should be able to email customer support and receive a response within a day, if not hours. If you have more involved questions, there should be a toll-free number and friendly informative staff available at all times. Many hosts offer online support in the form of instant messaging. Being able to “chat” with a customer service representative is an excellent feature.
The next thing you need to determine is how much disk storage and bandwidth you’ll need for your online enterprise. If it’s a relatively simple affair then you should select a relatively small plan. Someone who just wants to put up an informative page about their business won’t need as much from their host as someone who intends to supply images, video, and audio. As always, it’s important to decide what you need and then base your decisions on that.
Remember, you’ll also want to give yourself room to grow. Read the company’s user terms and policies. If you’re contracted to stick with a certain plan for a certain amount of time, make sure that it gives you room to expand your site. Maybe your site will be more successful than you planned. How bad would it be if your site starting getting tons of visitors but you had a cheap plan, with little storage and bandwidth, and then your host shut it down for exceeding its limits? If you’re not sure what you’ll need, start out with the low-level plan from a good company, but don’t sign on for a year or two at once. Stick with monthly plans or make sure you can change yours at any time so you can adjust to unforeseen popularity.
Along with the amount of disk storage and bandwidth, make sure you check your hosts data transfer rate and uptime. It won’t do you much good if you choose a service with slow speeds and frequent crashes. Reliability and speed are of the utmost importance when doing business on the internet. It’d be like if you had a great store but the power kept going out and you closed randomly.
Another feature to look at is the control panel offered by the company. The control panel allows you to manage your web site and keep track of activity. It allows you to check your bandwidth and disk storage. It also lets you see what your customers are doing. The control panel should be intuitive and informative. It should provide more information than the novice knows what to do with so it can grow with you, but it should be easy to interface with at the same time.
The web hosting company you choose should be well-established, have the right hardware, and it should provide the appropriate tools for their clients. Research the issues and avoid second-rate web operations. Once you get past the initial bump in the learning curve, you’ll find that doing business on the web can be easy and extremely profitable.

Selection of the Most Suitable Web Host

After creating and designing one’s own website he/she wants to host his/her own website other wise all the hard work will go in vain. Deciding the host for the website is far more difficult job then creating and designing it. While choosing host one should be very careful and should gain proper knowledge. One should consider all the factors while opting one host, as if this one decision went wrong then all the previous work will ruin.
Following are the few factors to be consider while choosing hosting plan-
1. Uptime of the web server?
2. Does the SSL is provided by the server or not?
3. Does the server avail server side scripting (e.g. PHP, ASP)?
4. What type of host to choose Free or paid?
5. What is the upload limit and file limit?
6. Support provided to the Customer.
Now we are going to take the above factors one by one:-
1– Uptime of the web server.
While hosting one’s website he/she wants that his/her server should always be up, as if website faces downtime it will result in the loss of traffic as well as of goodwill. The customer will never visit a website which remains down most of the hours so it is very important to choose host which provides maximum uptime.
Search engines will never give position to the website that always faces the downtime.
These kinds of websites should not expect the traffic from the search engines.
One can get a web server that is usually up, by the help of the reviews of the different persons who have already used the web host.
2. Does the SSL provided by the server or not?
If one created his/her own website just for the personnel use, not for doing any transactions on his/her website then SSL protection is not required.
If one who is not doing any transactions right now, but planning to do it in the future then he /she should opt for a web host that will provide SSL protection as and when required.
SSL is an encryption method which helps to encrypt any sensitive information like credit card info, names, etc
If a customer is going for a web host who is not offering SSL protection, in that case, installation of SSL will be very expensive as if afterwards he/she is trying to get it installed then the provider can charge what ever he/she wants for the SSL protection for transactions.
3. The third factor to look at it is does the server avail for server side scripting?
There are many web host providers who provides for server side scripting but still it’s important for customers to make sure that they do or don’t.
Server side scripting permits the webmaster to create pages which changes in real time.
For example, if one is running a business, and has all of his/her products stored in a database, and then a server side script will be helpful as it generates the pages that the customer sees according to the category/product he/she chooses.
If any of the web host provider is not providing the service of server side scripting, then it means that it will be a very silly decision to choose that web hosting.
4. What type of host to choose free or paid?
Now here comes the most important factor i.e. money factor which molds the customer’s decision. It’s hard for customers to decide that what to choose –free or paid host.
In case of free host, it has one and only one advantage that it is free, rest it has only and only complications in it.
The one who is not going to do any transitions by his/her site or created his/her website only as a hobby, then any of the free host will be ok for him. On the other hand for a professional customer, it will be good for him/her to not to look at for free hosting rather choosing for a paid host. Choosing free hosting will be of no use as it will never facilitate it’s customer due to lack of facilities in it.
Free web hosting has many disadvantages such as the hosters usually run ads on one’s home page.
The paid web host usually offers better customer support that is absent in free web hosting.
5. What is the upload/bandwidth limit and file limit?
If any customer is going for hosting large image files or if he/she wants to provide downloads to his/her users then upload/ bandwidth and file limit is very important.
But if anyone is making a hobby or business website then space is not a big deal for him/her and he/she can opt the host providing less space.
6. Customer Support
Now let’s talk about the Customer support which is very important. If any customer is suffering from any problem and he/she is not getting any support from his/her host then he/she will get irritate and leave the host. If any of the hosting company don’t want to loose his customers then it is important for the company to provide proper customer support and of course when ever needed.
Some web host providers even provide forums where customers like they can log in and post questions to other customers and web host staff.

Why Domain Investing is the Most Lucrative Investment Opportunity of 2009?
November 29, 2009 by admin
In a current economy domain name investing might be one of few opportunities that save your property from foreclosure.
According to a recent Verisign report, over 162 million Top Level Domain Names (TLDs) have been registered this year up until the end of the first quarter of 2008.
This represents growth of 26% percent year over year and 6% growth as a quarterly comparison.
The Verisign June Domain Name Industry Brief states the company processed peak loads of more than 50 billion Domain Name System (DNS) queries a day during the first quarter of 2008.
WHAT IS IN IT FOR YOU?
In a current economy when hundreds of thousands people loose their jobs, and investing in neither real estate nor public stock pays off, investing in a web name, domain is a fantastic opportunity.
The .com domain extension is still the most popular, but it’s extremely hard nowadays to locate premium domains directly from domain registrar (a company accredited by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and/or by a national ccTLD authority to register Internet domain names).
But even buying a domain from wholesalers and playing aftermarket trading can pay off few folds.
DO YOUR MATH:
If you ever tried to start tech venture and raise venture capital, you might know that VCs expect the highest return on their investment. 500% is considered great return even by players of high risk investment games that bet millions dollars on each horse that potentially can exist on public market or via acquisition.
You can easily invest in internet domain names very modest amount of money and expect 500% ROI.
Let’s say you buy 1-10 premium brandable domains from a wholesaler for $5000 each.
Even by only holding the domain for few years without developing them, you can easily sell your premium domains for $25,000 each and have $20,000-200,000 net profit (depending on the size of your portfolio) while doing nothing.
Why? Because in 2-3 years Internet will grow beyond ones imagination, more and more laid-off professionals will become self-employed and start registering their businesses and build web sites. But there are only so many premium domains that consist of 1-2 words are available. Doubt it? Try to locate quality brandable domains and see for yourself.
Here are some premium domains, potentially very profitable, that you can buy from aftermarket for a reasonable price and sell few years later with great profit without lifting a finger:

I’m looking to start my own personal site. It’s already built, now I just need to find my own domain and a web hosting service. I don’t need any fancy services or anything like that, just something basic that can hold at least 1GB worth of web space, reliable connectivity, and at decent price/rate that’s reasonable per year/month. If anyone has any suggestions, or recommendations based on their own experience, I would really appreciate the help. Thanks!
