Different Between Microsoft Access and Microsoft SQL Server

Microsoft Access is a relational database management system (RDBMS) that is packaged with the Microsoft office to run under the Microsoft Windows operating system. Microsoft Access Database is a Visual Basic based application that permits SQL statements to be included in associated macros and VB scripts. Access Databases includes a Jet database engine, joint with a graphical interface, to offer easiness of use in building front-end database applications. Microsoft Access Software is a structured environment, used by beginner programmers, with little or no experience, to handle relatively small database functions. It is also a useful tool, for advanced developers, to supply rapid application development.
Access databases do not scale well for big databases or multiple-access, network environments. The underlying Jet Database is a file-sharing database that performs all processing at the client level. Microsoft Access is not designed for high volume multi-user environments that allow multiple clients to read, write and execute other operations on shared files at the same time.
Microsoft SQL Server is a server level RDBMS that incorporates the industry standard, SQL Server originated from the enterprise level, Sybase SQL Server, developed for mainframe operating systems, such as Unix and VAX VMS. The client-server interaction of SQL Server is more robust than Microsoft Access databases and is capable to handle high volume multi-user environments. SQL Server is one of Microsoft’s BackOffice servers, designed to handle client/server applications using the industry standard and ANSI compliant SQL. SQL Server is scalable for multiprocessing. It has the ability to reliably perform database functions and data warehousing. SQL Server can be configured to effectively and efficiently accommodate multiple users, 24 X 7, and is ideal for complex and demanding applications such as Web hosting, e-commerce, real time transactions and messaging systems.
The client-server configuration allows for the manipulation of large, multiple databases along with the capability to perform multiple and continuous data warehousing functions. It’s uptime and reliability reduces the chance of database corruptions, due to failed read and write operations, as well as data access conflicts. Microsoft SQL Server is, often at times, confused with MySQL. MySQL is also a server level SQL-based RDBMS which is developed by a Swedish firm and it is distributed freely under general public license.

Windows 7 64-bit Aero Vulnerability warned by Microsoft
Microsoft released a bulletin following the discovery of a fault in the component called Canonical Display Driver in Windows 7 64-bit and Windows Server 2008 R2 (X64 and Itanium).
According to the edito,r this vulnerability could allow code execution, although this risk is minimized by Microsoft because of the random generation of memory addresses. However, more likely scenario evoked by the U.S. firm: a successful exploitation of the flaw causing a reboot of the OS.
Third-party applications to display image may also be affected since they use the API Windows GDI (Graphics Device Interface). An attacker could then send a specially forged image or a link to a site hosting an image bomb to exploit the flaws of Windows 7.
To reduce the risk of exploitation of the vulnerability of Windows 7 64-bit, Microsoft recommends that users of affected versions of the OS to disable the Aero interface that uses the driver called Canonical Display Driver (cdd.dll). By default, Aero is disabled in Windows Server 2008 R2.

What is Microsoft Exchange Server Server and it’s Use?
August 4, 2010 by admin
In the modern business environment, e-mail has become the primary means of communication, supplanting even the ever present PBX phone system. While the need for e-mail is undeniable, there are a variety of approaches that SMBs take to fulfilling that need, from bare bones POP mail to a full on in-house server deployment. There is a constant however, and it’s a common one in a tight economy – price constraints and the inherent limitations they impose on available features.
Certainly business considerations have driven e-mail development, growing from the simple ability to send ASCII text from one mainframe to another, to the full featured information and time management platforms we have come to expect. The client/server driven POP mail was an important advancement from UNIX e-mail readers; similarly, limitations of POP mail led to the development of IMAP technology, and so on.
Concerns over scalability and security prompted companies like Microsoft to create enterprise class e-mail applications, and today corporate e-mail is dominated by Microsoft Exchange Services and similar solutions. Designed from the ground up for business, Exchange includes robust security, back up management tools, and a host of other business oriented features. Unfortunately, the cost of hardware, licenses, and the technical staff needed to run an Microsoft Exchange server has prevented many SMBs from taking advantage of those benefits. Hosted Exchange service changes that equation, giving small businesses the power of Exchange at a fraction of the expected cost.
Hosted Exchange service simply means that a business outsources provisioning and management of the Exchange server to an application hosting provider. To start, this eliminates cost of entry barriers, allowing business to quickly and inexpensively adopt Exchange into the workplace. Ongoing costs of operations are also mitigated, by avoiding the need to purchase servers and software licenses, as well as hire staff to maintain the infrastructure. Hosted Exchange services are instantly scalable, and generally offer pay as you go price structures, which means that businesses only pay for exactly what they need. Contrast this with the usual technology upgrade cycle of paying for capacity and growing into it later.
The ancillary benefits of a Hosted Exchange solution are even more striking, with SMBs reaping significant advantages through the economies of scale offered by a high end hosting provider. Robust, fully redundant datacenters with 24/7/365 staffing, backbone connections to major carriers, and supplemental services like managed backup, anti-virus and intrusion protection, and managed load balancers and firewalls all add up to make a Microsoft Exchange solution invaluable to businesses of any size.
If you’re worried that your business is at a disadvantage thanks to an outdated e-mail solution, you’re probably right. If you haven’t acted on those worries because of budgetary concerns, then outsourcing to a Hosted Exchange provider is the cost-effective answer.
