Domain Names – How to Secure Cheap Domain Names

A “Cheap Domain” does not necessarily mean a bad domain or something to be avoided.

Therefore you do not necessarily have to pay more to have a good domain name – so it therefore follows that it would be wise to spend as little as possible on your domain names, right?

That’s right but the one big thing to consider when buying “cheap” domains is the domain name registrar.

This is where it can get ugly because if you buy from a cheap and nasty registrar your domains may not be transferable or easy to manage.

Registrars are authorized by the internet governing body so you need to make sure that the company you are registering a domain name with meets this qualification.

How to Choose a Memorable Domain Name

Whilst most of the popular names and phrases have been taken by domain name speculators hoping to sell them at a profit in the future, it is still possible to register domain names that are both memorable and on topic.

Fortunately there are still many domain name options and combinations available with various extensions which provides you more flexibility when it comes to choosing your domain name.

However, it is important to consider the following when choosing your domain name…

Your Domain Name is an Investment for the Future

Domain names, like real estate, appreciate in value as time goes by.

Furthermore, as a domain name ages not only does it become more valuable, it importantly gains more credibility & integrity with the search engines.

Therefore it is extremely important to secure as many appropriate domains as possible as soon as you can.

Not only can they all be directed to one website but it keeps them out of the clutches of your competition as well as adding to your business’ online presence and credibility.

What if your preferred name has already been registered?

There is a good chance that your preferred domain name has already been registered and that you’ll have to settle for a name that is not your first choice.

The most popular top level domain (TLD) is the dotcom extension for businesses, but there are some good alternatives such as .net .org .biz which are good choices for the appropriate type of business, eg. an IT company should have a .net extension & a non-profit ro government organization should have a .org extension.

Furthermore if your business is country specific, you should consider using a country-specific top level domains (TLDs) like .de, .nu, .sg, etc.

However, if your name has been taken you can always consider adding a search engine friendly term to the name.

For instance if your preferred name is photography you could choose photography-tips or photography-usa or photography123 etc..

Your Domain is Registered – What Now?

Ensure that once your domain is registered that your domain record remains locked which ensures that your domain remains secure and untouchable.

Therefore your domain cannot be transferred to a different registrar unless you have unlocked it – this means that it is secure and cannot be stolen by some unscrupulous domain name grabber.

Lastly, remember it’s wise to register as many appropriate domains as you can get – they are not only cheap but an investment in your businesses future.

So start registering & profiting with cheap domain names here…

Buying an expired domain is an intricate and cumbersome process, when you do not know the fundamentals and techniques of expired domain name industry. Buying a domain expired domain name is a busy activity, when you apply your mind and intelligence to choose and later buy the most profitable domain name. However, understanding the intricate process and various options involved with registering an expired domain name could also be a confusing and misleading task. This little article will provide you the most basic and fundamental steps and procedures required while searching for a good expired domain name.

Before you buy an expired domain name, you will need to learn and understand the normal and usual expired domain expiration process for dot com and dot net type of web domains. Every domain expiring undergoes a series of steps eventually culminating in the final expiration. Here are a few of the mandatory expiration steps:

I Phase: You can register a domain for a period of one to ten years, during which you can have an unrestricted and privileged usage. To retain the privilege of using your domain, you will need to renew the subscription before the due date. This stage is the active phase of the domain cycle.

II Phase: Many times, the owner of the domain may fail to renew the domain name, because of some compelling reasons. At the end of the renewal period, a particular expired domain name will enter a phase known as On-Hold phase, when the owner will need to pay the renewal fees to the registrar to retain the ownership of the name. The normal time duration for this phase is about 1 to 45 days. This is the grace time period, during which the owner of a domain name can continue to use the domain after paying the required fees.

III Phase: If the owner does not renew the domain even after 45 days, the domain will enter a phase called Redemption phase. This phase lasts for about 30 days, during which the owner can pay a fee called redemption penalty fee to renew the domain name. The suggested fees may range from $100 to $200. During this phase, the owner can still have the opportunity to get back the domain.

IV Phase: Once the 30-day redemption period comes to an end, and still the owner does not renew the domain name, then the domain enters another phase known as Pending Delete phase, which usually lasts for 5 days pending delete period. With this stage, the domain may become out of reach to the owner and domain will be open for sale and subsequent registration on the six day from the date of pending delete phase.

Expired domains are the part of a dynamic and energetic industry. Dropping domains are becoming common everyday and the process of deletion of an expired domain changes often with the intervention of major registrars with the help of ICAAN. If you understand the process of deletion and expiry of an expired domain, then you would have taken the first sure steps towards your journey to online riches.

The resolution of names through the use of Domain Name System (DNS) is central to Windows operation. Without proper name resolution, users cannot locate resources on the network. It is critical that the design of the DNS namespace be created with Active Directory in mind and that the namespace that exists on the Internet not conflict with an organization’s internal namespace. Google houses more than 50 millions of web domains and most of these domains are alive, while a considerable numbers are dead and expired. If you know how Google spiders work in segregating the search results, you can easily cull out excellent expired domain names as well.

Most of the major search engines including Yahoo, Live, Google, Ask and host of others employ a method that seeks to weed out or eradicate those domains that are no longer alive, or those that are already expired and dead. However, hundreds of thousands of web domains expire everyday and these numbers seem to be too huge for any search engines to remove from the list. Thus, there is always a time lag of a week or so, before the expired domain names are removed from the directories.

However, there is still a gap of about five to sex days before the entire list of expired domains disappear from the directory listings. Smart expired domain traders make it a point to buy expired domains, before they are deleted or removed from the search engine list. Once you buy listed expired domains and register them as soon as possible, you can have the liberty of accumulating very precious traffic and links owned and possessed by the previous owner.

However, you can conduct a search on the Google search engine by using a simple search query given as follows:

a) Just open the Google search engine bar
b) Type- “Auction Date” 01-07-2008 intitle: aaaaaaaaa site: whois.domaintools.com (here, aaaaa is the preferred keyword, while the date could be any date that you wish but it should preferably be about 15 days before today’s date.
c) Choose any keyword you want and consult a keyword tracker web domain for better keywords.
d) Once you give a command for search, you can easily get a comprehensive list of expiring or expired domain names in the entire search engine directory.

Once you create list, you can sensitize it by using good domain software for short listing the best possible domain names. The list thus generated should provide you a basic idea of how your expired domain names look and appear.
